SPIN is a thriller located in the grungy urban world of youth culture set against the political backdrop of Australia’s national capital. Using juxtaposed screen based images such as wearable gopro cameras, security cameras, tv grabs, internet screenshots, social media and phone screens edited together in a fragmented and stylized which embeds the story world within a visual aesthetic.

A young skater and digital artist, Tony, accidentally records a murder while filming a female grafittii artist, Lisa, while she works on her latest project late one night.

 

By freezing the frame they begin to uncover the murderer and political nature of this crime which draws them together and into the dangerous and illusory world of crime and political intrigue. Relying on the tools and artefacts of their youth culture they pit themselves against the powers of big business and political media manipulation culminating in a realisation that will challenge both their personal identities and their sense of the world they live in.
